The story of a family

It was April 1964 when Maria Ligari and Mario Colli, married since 5 years and already with three children - Felice, Angela and Filippo - with the help of siblings Margherita Ligari and Giovanni Giacomo Colli, opened the Aurora Restaurant. The idea was to offer refreshment to travellers on today's SP72 with traditional dishes from the national and local culture. Soon after the offer was widened with the opening of the first rooms so to permit travellers not only to taste culinary delicacy but also to enjoy a well-deserved rest.

The success that the two families had obtained, together with the willingness to create a widened and more appropriate space, brought to the creation of the nowadays Hotel Aurora in April 1969. It was then that the Restaurant, Bar and Hotel Aurora were jointly housed in the same structure with its characteristic hexagonal shape. Typical dishes and a convivial atmosphere were the hallmarks of the Aurora, which soon became a welcoming meeting place for travellers and the local community.

Thanks to the numerous efforts and the passion for the business, Hotel Aurora has remained a landmark in Colico through the years. Nowadays, Mrs Maria and her daughter Angela, with the help of grandchildren Pamela and Stefano, carry on the family business with the same passion as always.
